Charles and ray eames galaxy lamp manufactured by cassina (italy) explosion of light designed in 1949, a product of the genius of charles and ray eames, created by assembling components from the automotive industry to produce an enchanting explosion of light. For the first time ever, cassina puts this masterpiece into production. Originally created for "an exhibition for modern living" at the detroit institute of arts in 1949, it was never marketed, due to technological limitations of the industry at the time. Galaxy is composed of a centre sphere that illuminates the surrounding area like the stars in a galaxy. Finish matt black or polished aluminium. Light rods 36 of different lengths (15, 30 and 45 cm). Galaxy is a pendant lamp, designed in 1949, a product of the genius of charles and ray eames, created by assembling brass tubing and automotive components inside a wooden sphere. For the first time ever, cassina puts this masterpiece into production which, despite the considerable interest it incited, has never been mass-produced until now. Galaxy grew out of a collaboration with the eames office, the design studio founded by charles and ray in 1941, and is composed of a centre sphere that holds 36 rods of different lengths, each with its own led light source, as if to evoke a star-studded sky. Cassina has innovated the original design with the addition of a 'plug & play' system that allows the rods to be inserted into the sphere to illuminate the space, while at the same time allowing the size of the packaging to be extremely small, compared to the dimensions of the final product. Orders where Free Local Pickup or Seller Managed Local Delivery were selected:
- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
