A rarely seen petite antique circa early 1900s solid bronze sauté or frying pan with sterling silver lining and nickel handle made by Joseph Heinrichs. Joseph Heinrichs made and sold very high quality cookware through such well regarded retailers as Tiffany & Co, and directly to many of the finest restaurants and hotels from 1897-1937... In the past we have had Joseph Heinrichs pieces from the Waldorf Astoria, The Plaza, and a number of other fine restaurants and hotels. This particular piece is from the Carlton Terrace; located at 100th and Broadway in NYC the Carlton Terrace began as a restaurant and nightclub famous for its live jazz and dancing in 1911, after a devastating raid it shuttered during prohibition and was replaced by a hotel of the same name in 1923.
Beautifully made, in fantastic condition for its age, small surface marks and scratches to the bronze but no large dents or damage, it sits flat. The pan has been polished inside and out; the sterling lining is in great condition with some small utensil marks and scratches. The handle is silver plated nickel, the silver plating is unfortunately wearing away, but it could be removed and replated by a professional.
This is one of the smallest round pans made by Heinrichs, it measures approximately 4.25” across at the bottom by 5” across at the top by almost 1.5” deep with a 4.5” handle; and it weighs a bit over 9.7 ounces. less
