A pair of hand carved reclining water buffalo on black wooden bases. Made in Italy by Palladio, they date 1966. Originally designed to be bookends, they were used by their previous owner as statues on their fireplace mantle. I don't know how Palladio did the final finish, but the buffalo have a wonderful antique, almost archaic, look to them.
