This beautifully hand crafted firewood box has been adapted into a table or console. Brass cabriole feet, brass handles and a glass top was added to this piece in the 1960's probably to make it more useful while keeping the integrity of the design and box alive. Decorated with repousse tavern scene motifs top, front and sides. Each scene features cheerful persons, dancing, or siting around a table and drinking. The box opens easily with a chain to hold the top open for everyday use. In very good condition commensurate with age and use. See less
