Handwoven in wool circa 1880-1890, this 1x1 antique Swedish tapestry flatweave is a rich treasure from the Scandinavian Rollakan and Flamskvav weaving traditions.

A warm, saturated red underscores rich brown, black and gold tones in its play of geometric patterns and pictorials of human figures in the central field—a rich piece of folk art capturing the daily lives of weavers that would play a huge role in the Scandinavian renaissance soon to come.
