This mid-century 1960s small stoneware vase by ulla winblad for alingsås keramik (sweden) features carved sgraffito decoration and matte beige, brown, and blue glazes. The base is impressed with the maker's logo "alingsås-keramik," the artist's signature "u. Winblad," and the model number "210". It is also marked "handgjord" (handmade). Even though all vases with the model number 210 share the same shape, each vase is unique, with different incised patterns and glazes. The vase displays pressed decor in low relief, depicting arrows and circles, and has a low protruding ring on the lower part of the vase. About ulla winblad ulla winblad (1933–1992) was a distinguished swedish ceramicist, renowned as the artistic leader of alingsås keramik in the 1950s and 1960s. Born in helsingborg on october 28, 1933, she trained under jie johnson in gantofta and at the slöjdföreningens school in gothenburg. In 1958, she became the artistic director at alingsås keramik, overseeing 50 employees and producing utilitarian ceramics like vases and bowls. In 1967, ulla moved to seattle, washington, where she opened her own studio, expanding her repertoire to include large bird figurines, miniatures, pendants, and raku-fired goods. Her work gained more appreciation in the usa, with pieces acquired by the nordic heritage museum in seattle. Ulla exhibited at the international academy of ceramics, the northwest craft center, and local galleries. Items from alingsås were signed "u winblad," while her u.s. Creations were signed "winblad-hjelmqvist." this piece has an attribution mark,
