Maison Forest is one of the most famous french cabinetmakers of the 19th and early 20th century and their quality level is up to par with other fine cabinetmakers such as: Francois Linke, Paul Sormani, Henry Dasson, Charles-Guillaume Winckelsen, Maison Krieger and more.
Paris, France, circa 1890, brilliant finely chased and chiseled gilt bronze ormolu mounted matched mahogany inlaid kingwood fruitwood marquetry writing table, exceptionally executed in luxurious Louis 16th taste, label in dovetailed frieze drawer, retaining the original lock and key, finished on all sides, rising on stretcher-joined fluted tapering legs terminating in sculpted bronze capped feet.

Maison Forest was established in Paris at 14 rue Pierre-Picard in 1883 and also at 31 rue Cambacéres. The firm was renown for their production of high quality furnishings inspired by models of period French Master ébénistes in the Louis XIV, XV and XVI styles as well as Empire style with fine gilt-bronze mounts, parquetry and marquetry. The furniture produced by the firm stands out for its exceptionally high quality gilt-bronze mounts and furthermore for its notable ébénisterie and fine decoration. Maison Forest presented their products at the Universal Exhibition held in Chicago in 1893.
