This sophisticated mid-century Murano chandelier has four undulating scroll arms and features rostrato detailing in the manner of Ercole Barovier. The fixture is stylized with glass flowers sprouting from the bulbous center column. The body and arms of this piece are made of clear, colorless Venetian glass with brass detailing. The various techniques used to create this piece are a showcase of masterful glasswork and a reverence for craft.
The glasshouses on the island of Murano are famous for highly ornamented glass chandeliers made of pincered and molded blown glass. The rostrato technique was pioneered by Ercole Barovier, consisting of an outer layer of rows characterized by spikes called "rostri" that protrude from the surface of the chandelier. The various textures and surfaces of this piece allow for the dazzling cristallo glass to interact with light in a breathtaking fashion.
This chandelier is a versatile statement piece, by the design and color-way, that features refined craftsmanship and detailing. The cristallo glass creates a warm atmosphere when illuminated and would be a treasured addition to any living room, dining room, or entryway.
