The helmet is crushed velvet with gilt and leather accents. In great shape apart from one small section of missing trim around the brim (as pictured). Featuring a skull and crossbones on the front.

The inside of the box reads " Henderson Ames Company, Kalamazoo, Mich. Military and Society Uniforms and Equipments. Regalia and Paraphernalia." The side of the box reads "JH Kurtzman Rochester, Minn."

The box has certainly seen wear and is missing leather straps on the outside and the handle that would have been on top. The interior leather straps are still in tact and, in spite of the wear, the box is still sturdy and solid. Also included are two pairs of ceremonial white gloves -- as found. See less
