Completed in 1756, was the largest stone building in the American colonies. It played a key role during the American Revolution, serving as a barracks and hospital, and briefly housed the Continental Congress in 1783. It now serves as Princeton's main administrative building. Nassau Hall is a National Historic Landmark and a symbol of both the university and early U.S. history.

The painting is clearly signed in the lower right corner by J.H. Bayer and inscribed in pencil on the back: "Buyer: Nassau Tavern, Princeton." A 1949 newspaper clipping attached to the back provides additional information. This 1940's vintage painting is nicely framed and ready for display.
