(active 1904–28) pair of engraved clear glass decanters and sterling mount stoppers. They are decorated with engraved fine vertical lines and rows of small leaves and flowers. Both stoppers are marked with acid etched letter "S" inside a laurel wreath, the mark of the Corning, New York glass maker Henry Purdon Sinclaire (1864-1928). The sterling mounts are monogrammed R and S (perhaps meaning Rhum and Scotch) and marked STERLING, the axe shaped hallmark of William B. Kerr & Co., an American silversmith active circa 1880 and 1928, and numbered 6800-1. H. P. Sinclaire glass pieces are quite rare outside of museum collections, a matched pair of decanters such as these more so. We have seen examples of H. P. Sinclaire glass in the Metropolitan Museum as well as in the Corning Glass Museum collections. These are heavy and substantial pieces weighing close to 3 lbs. each unpacked.

Measurements: 9" tall including stopper / 7 3/4" tall without stopper approximately (variations between decanters). less
