This exquisite antique English George Jones cheese dome and stand set decorated with a bold floral design with gilt trim. Both the dome and the matching stand are signed "H.O.J.," representing Horace Overton Jones (1856–1928), the youngest son of noted potter George Jones. The underside is marked with "Stoke GJ & Sons Crescent China Rd. N°. 124120" and "Rd. N°. 134138," indicating English registration numbers from the year 1889.
Often referred to as a "Chilton cheese dome and stand," this set not only serves its practical function of protecting cheese but also adds a refined decorative touch to any table setting.
A beautiful and functional piece of antique English pottery.
