Exquisite Georgian-era Chetham & Woolley cachepot with a matching plant saucer. Adorned with molded and sprigged cream-colored relief decoration on a vibrant blue ground. Similar to a set from the 1820s at London's Victoria and Albert Museum, labeled as MIST-type (James Mist, Chetham & Woolley agent). Established in 1793, Chetham & Woolley was a family of earthenware manufacturers in Commerce Street, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent. This rare find is a museum quality piece, an ideal addition to any collection, perfect for use as a working flowerpot, or a special gift for a plant enthusiast. The pot is numbered 18 on the underside and the saucer 24. In very good condition with hairlines and minor imperfections as shown.
