Hand … more At over 200 years old these rare directoire chairs are in remarkably good condition with beautiful color and patina. Hand carved from solid fruitwood and constructed using old world pegged mortise-and-tenon joinery. Fine design incorporating neoclassic elements including bellflower wreaths carved on the back, delicate fluting throughout, and elegant splayed legs. Ready for your own upholstery material -- If desired the bottom upholstery could be saved (in exquisite condition) and a complimentary fabric installed on the back only.
No markings.
Condition is very good with very minor restoration/stabilization. No major issues.
Circa 1800.
Each is 21" wide x 22" deep x 34 1/2" high. The seat is 21" wide x 19" deep. About 18" from floor. Very comfortable.
