This 1949 oil on linen Expressionist interior scene with a hanging lamp is by San Francisco North Beach artist Martin Snipper (1914-2008). Snipper studied at the National Academy of Art In New York and exhibited at the San Francisco Art Museum's (later to become SFMOMA) annual exhibitions. He was Director of the San Francisco Art Festival and Arts Commission.
Initialed and dated lower left.
