These exceptional Art Deco dining chairs, designed by Frits Spanjaard for 'The Haagse School' in the 1930s, showcase the refined craftsmanship of the period. Made from solid oak, the carved chairs feature a distinctive high back and elegant detailing.
Upholstered in rich purple fabric, they offer both style and comfort. A stunning example of Dutch Art Deco design, these chairs make a striking addition to any interior.
The Haagse School is the name for a group of designers who mostly lived and worked in The Hague, the Netherlands and who mainly focused on interior and furniture design. They represent the business, functional direction in Art Deco. Their furniture and interiors were considered very modern by many in the 1920s and 1930s. The functionality of the furniture is considered more important by the designers of the Haagse School than the form. A shape that is characterized by simple, clean contours and linearity.
Design from the Amsterdam school was known as the more affordable form. The Haagse school was intended for the wealthy.
