"Charles Boland was born in Antwerp, 1850, and lived in Belize, Belgium for most of his life." Most well known for his animal paintings, especially dogs, this painting of a stag marking his territory by licking a tree trunk, is an exceptionally fine example of his work. In its original Victorian frame, which is most attractive as well as heavy. Signed and dated in the lower left corner, "Ch Boland 1879". The overall size of the frame is 33" W x 42" H x 3.625" D. less
