Attributed to the circle of Girolamo Troppa, an established artist on the Roman artistic scene of the mid-17th century, the painting depicts the prophet Habakkuk who, holding out his profile to the viewer, shows a tablet and book with inscriptions that make the iconographic identification certain. The compositional model is inspired by the great Baroque pictorial tradition of Lazio. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
