This beautiful mixed media painting is by West Coast artist Jeanne Moment. The piece was made in 1971 with signature and date in the lower left corner. It is a horizontal abstract Oregon landscape. This quintessential piece is rendered in oil pastel and sumi ink on illustration board. The landscape is set in a vintage gilt frame with a forest green matte board.
Jeanne Moment was a Los Angeles high school teacher for twenty-five years before she and her family came to Oregon in 1940. She fell in love with Oregon's outdoor spaces. Her work is in the permanent collection at the Portland Museum of Art and other notable art institutions.
