Circa 1920 Satsuma Sake Set from the Kizan workshop, Japan. Decorated with fabulous Noh actors in costumes of the period in enamels of deep color with gilded highlights. Delicate crackle glaze. 5 cups & 2 bottles. Each signed Kizan on base & character denoted on the side (2 not marked with character - both of the same king). Assembled in the 1920s or earlier by renowned ichthyologist Dr. Hugh McCormick Smith.
