Description: Empty pocket in cracked effect earthenware with a solar motif enhanced with gold by Longwy. This historic earthenware factory with … more Empty pocket in cracked effect earthenware with a solar motif enhanced with gold by Longwy. This historic earthenware factory with its unique know-how is renowned for its cloisonné enamels on earthenware. Each alveolus created by the freehand line is filled drop by drop with colored enamel. The piece is then retouched before a second firing at 750°c, then the gold is applied with a brush to the decoration and the object is annealed at 600°c. Finally, sienna is applied to the enameled surface to make the cracks in the enamel visible. Longwy enamels are included in the inventory of intangible cultural heritage in France.
