børge mogensen is one of the most important designers of the danish modern movement.
after studying with kaare klint in copenhagen, he headed the furniture design department of the danish cooperatives union (fdb) from 1942 to 1950.
it was during this period, in 1947, that he designed a simple and refined chair, the j-39 shaker, very influenced by the purity and integrity of american shaker furniture, itself inspired by the british arts & crafts. This piece has an attribution mark,
