One of the best and most revolutionary inventions of its time for literary history! This book press was sought after for its ability to "drive" the press downwards into place. This was an improvement on the original wood style press, but with much more weight to its design. Although it can be disassembled, each part of this holds weight as it's made of cast iron. These were extremely popular in the 1800s and into the early 1900s before heavy machinery became the standard.

Today, this is a conversation piece on its own. However, it is in working condition and can be used for bookmaking, press artwork and even as a vice for flat items. There is a flat wood plank at the base setting on top of flat iron surface set in place for ease of blocking; it is removable if desired. .

This item is solid and extremely heavy. The wheel turns with ease for operation and the piece can be disassembled if/when needed. This item will ship in one piece as shown in photographs.
