This is a matted original chromolithograph fruit botanical that dates to the 1860's! The print has a wonderful quality and rich depth of color, tone and texture. It features several varieties of summer fruits-blackberries. This image came from the rare French Atlas d’Histoire Naturelle Botanique published in Paris in the mid 1860’s and illustrated by the famed German naturalist, G H Schubert. This was an historical reference book with letter notations corresponding to documentation. We were fortunate to “happen” upon this book in Paris and have since learned that this book can no longer be found in rare book dealers’ collections. This is a RARE, RARE find. Please note the illustrative work of the drawing. The clarity, detail and nuance of color render it special. This image works well in a kitchen or dining area. Excellent antique condition.
