Although müren was best known for his music, extravagant costumes, and women's makeup, very few people know that he was … Read more Although müren was best known for his music, extravagant costumes, and women's makeup, very few people know that he was also a talented textile designer, and the rugs made from his designs in the 1960s and 1970s are now being greatly reevaluated by admirers and collectors. Some have jewel-like geometric patterns, others feature bold abstract shapes in 1970s colors. Most zeki müren rugs were made in isparta, southwest turkey, but some were also made in a town called demirci near manisa, which wove a softer weave than isparta.
