SEGUSO's most successful master glassmaker in the 1950s and 1960s was Flavio Poli, who designed simple, amorphous shapes with multiple, colored glass layers. The smooth outer surfaces of the vases or bowls were usually polished, which gave the glasses a special brilliance and finely represented the layers of color built up in the glass. The vases or bowls often contrast the massive stand with fine and thin mouths or edges.
