These forearm bracelets were called Chura or Choora or Chuda depending on the state
and used as a forearm ornament since time immemorial by women of the Indian subcontinent, including India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Worked with different variations as if they were composed of many churi (bracelets), in India they were worn mainly by the Adivasi in Odisha but also by Kutchis in Gujarat, by some tribes of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, such as Rabari, Mehar and Mahratta, and by those of the north-eastern region like the Khasis of Meghalaya.
The bracelet is made of two parts, worked in sections. A central section is worked in rings with different decorations, more or less elaborate, and more or less numerous to form the height, which is then welded to the two ends, while the two parts are joined by hinges and screw closures.
