These forearm bracelets were called Chura or Choora or Chuda depending on the state
and used as a forearm ornament since time immemorial by women of the Indian subcontinent, including India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Worked with different variations as if they were composed of many churi (bracelets), in India they were worn mainly by the Kutchis in Gujarat, by some tribes of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, such as Rabari, Mehar and Mahratta, and by those of the north-eastern region like the Khasis of Meghalaya, especially by brides.
Now back in fashion as a set of bracelets, this bracelet was instead traditionally a single set, composed of two parts, worked in sections. A central section was worked in rings with different decorations, more or less elaborate, and more or less numerous to form the height, which was then welded to the two ends, always worked in embossed fashion, while the two parts were then joined by hinges and screw closures.
