The lid is beautifully decorated in brass with leaf and heart motifs. The interior is also polished brass. A lovely pair side-mounted scissors ensures this is not only a beautiful and charming item but also a practical one.

Erhard & Söhne was founded in 1844 by Gottlieb Erhard and his two sons in Schwäbisch Gmünd, about 30 miles east of Stuttgart in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The company was highly regarded for innovative and quality workmanship. They made a variety of products including haberdashery, silver and gold plated brass and bronze, dollshouse accessories and toys and obtained a world patent for the manufacture of brass inlay in 1904.
