The Contemporary Handmade Bench is a visually stunning piece that combines natural wood and concrete materials to create a unique and modern interior accent furniture. Handmade with precision and care, this bench showcases the coldness of concrete and the coziness of wood, resulting in a product with a distinctive character.
The tabletop of the bench is crafted from natural oak, providing a warm and inviting aesthetic. The base of the bench is designed to resemble concrete in appearance, created using a solid pour technique. This process presented a technological challenge as it required the fusion of wet concrete-like material and moisture-sensitive wood. However, through meticulous craftsmanship, the two materials seamlessly integrate, leaving no gaps in the structure of the bench. Once dried, the product is carefully scrubbed and the tabletop is oiled to enhance its durability.
The black concrete-like material used for the base is an innovative mixture of eco-friendly cement, recycled paper, glue, and paint. This composition results in a material that has the strength of wood while mimicking the appearance of concrete. Additionally, it possesses a slight elasticity, preventing it from splitting or crumbling. The result is a bench that exhibits a natural texture and exceptional durability.
