A pair of small French art deco flush mounts made around 1930. Nickel-plated bronze or solid brass mounts hold a nice skyscraper shade in clear frosted pressed glass. Designed by Pierre d'Avesn for Lorrain verrerie de belle étoile. Both are signed P.D'AVESN FRANCE.
The flush mounts have a height of 21,3 cm (8,39 inches). The shades have a diameter of 11,5 cm (4,53"). The lamps are in very good condition. I re-nickeled and patinated the mountings. And both are rewired with an American candelabra base socket. For European countries I will place E14 ones.

On Lorrain: In 1926 the famous Daum glass manufacturers opened a new plant in the village of Croismare near Luneville. A year later it started a production of pressed glassware. The new company "Les Verreries d'Art Lorrain" merged with the one Daum already owned in this village "Les verreries de belle étoile". For these plants the Daum company employed the well known designer Pierre d'Avesn , who till that time worked for René Lalique, as its artistic director. d'Avesn stayed in office till the Lorrain branch closed down in 1934. Some prestigious Lorrain models were signed P.d'Avesn like the shades of these flush mounts. After the bankruptcy of Lorrain, d'Avesn became the director of the Hanots/Verlys glass manufactory of the Holophane company.
