Its height and profile are reminiscent of antique "huntboards", a taller variation of a sideboard designed for hungry hunters to stand around and eat after completing the day's hunt. Owing to its variable coloring, the presence of knots and wood shrinkage, as well as wood grain and texture, I believe it to be constructed from antique pine.

This piece would be at home in a number of design plans be they traditional or modern, working well as buffet or sideboard in a dining room or kitchen, or as a console table in an entryway or hall.

Note: The buffet comes with a backsplash (see last photo) that is currently detached, with holes predrilled in the tabletop. See less
