This vintage 3x7 Gabbeh Persian runner is from the latest entries in Rug & Kilim’s rare tribal curations. Hand-knotted in wool circa 1950-1960.

This tribal provenance is one of the most primitive, and collectible shabby-chic styles in handmade nomadic rugs. Exceptional Gabbehs like this creation are known for thick, lush pile, vibrant modern colors and archaic geometric patterns. This particular design enjoys animal pictorials on a red open field within an orange and black border of complementary warmth. Keen-eyed connoisseurs will note the reference to lions and rams in the central pictorials, and admire their bold, graphic presence, both underfoot and on the wall given this rug’s versatile size.
