Monet’s Dahlias is a unique painting by contemporary artist Lumi Mizutani. The painting is made with pigments and Indian ink on Japanese paper mounted on panel, dimensions are 31.8 × 40.9 cm (12.5 × 16.1 in).
The artwork is signed, sold unframed and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
The violet flowers in the painting's foreground contrast sharply with the background's greenery. As the title suggests, the artist was most likely influenced by the dahlias that Claude Monet planted in his Giverny garden. The artist often pays homage to French and Japanese landscapes in her figurative paintings, emphasizing the importance of plants and flowers.
Lumi Mizutani works on the alchemy between different elements she uses: paper, ink and water. Through the magic play of the materials, Lumi invites the viewer to enter the world of her artworks full of emotion.
