This wonderful Kurd runner is a great find. It has a beautiful color scheme of light and dark blue medallions on a lighter brown background with contrasting red medallion fragments. As you can see the bottom two medallion fragments are more orange than the rest of the medallion fragments; this is often the case because of the limitations on wool and coloring 100 years ago. While someone who does not know rugs would look at something like this and think it is an imperfection, or a fault; someone who really knows rugs understands that this lighter color shows authenticity and brings character to the rug.
