Wonderful distressed patina with interesting graphic remnants of its former life. The interior has an crimson red canvas over wood which was dutifully repaired/maintained over the years and has stood the test of time. Other than a sure conversation piece, this trunk would make a unique side table and storage option.
Leave it in it's original state or refurbish to your liking.
Solid piece and all original, very unique/rare.
I believe the B11 on the side represents the steam locomotive this traveler's trunk was assigned to. On the bottom of the metal plate it reads, Boston, New York and Philadelphia the rest of the plate is for you to decipher.
