One arm seems loose, however you really have to push on it. Nothing appears loose when one sits in the chair. There is absolutely no evidence of activity in the wormwood. The fabric is free of stains. The frame has expected wear and shows 2 repairs as pictured. We have already mentioned the later added stretchers. Please see all photos. less

Description: This Chinese Chippendale arm chair has so much old world charm and is perfect to fill in a spot or … more This Chinese Chippendale arm chair has so much old world charm and is perfect to fill in a spot or to serve as extra seating.
We have dated it to the late 18th or early 19th century and it looks to be handmade of yew. The backsplat is carved and is set into a yoke style top rail. The arms are curved and the wood is worn to a soft patina.
The drop in seat is covered in a vintage fabric depicting a family in a garden scene of peonies.
The stretchers appear to have been added later and look like a different wood.
We love this chair for all of its character and wish it could talk! less
