Woodblock print of a Shinto temple roof by Japanese artist and printmaker Isamu Sakamoto Framed with a black bamboo style wood, this print is protected non-glare glass. The colors are vibrant and quite striking. Signed by the artist and dated 1970, there were 100 prints made.
About the Artist:
Sakamoto Isamu (1931- ) was born in Iwaki, Fukushima prefecture.
His prints often feature landscapes and areas of scenic beauty in Fukushima. Sakamoto has had solo and group exhibitions throughout Japan, France and the United States. His work is in a number of collections including the Smithsonian Freer Gallery of Art, the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, and the Carnegie Museum of Art.
Sakamoto is a member and trustee of the Japan Print Society and serves on a number of Fukushima artist organizations, including the Fukushima Artists Federation. less
