A quaint and homely mid-century modernist landscape composition, painted in oil onto board and dated 1943 on the reverse, by Swedish artist Kurt Lindon (1910-1985), whose works can be found in the collections at the Stockholm City Museum, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Gothenburg Art Museum, Linköping Museum, Östersund Museum, Norrköping Art Museum, and the Borås Art Museum.

In this scene we see two figures tending to a bush, with houses and garden sheds in the background. The artist has applied the paint thickly, creating areas of impasto and a lovely texturing across the board. Elements of a pointillist technique have been used, where tiny dots of colour in short brushstrokes have been placed in close proximity to one another, which when viewed at a distance, appear to fuse together. As a result, these painting is interesting both from near and afar – the overall colour palette is warm and rich, and the subject is quaint and charming. But when viewed in close proximity, the detail on each brushstroke is fascinating.
