Designed by Volak for Drevopodnik Holesov, a well known furniture manufacturer and dealer. In the last few years, these claustras have become increasingly rare with an equally increasing demand from interior designers.
This example has been completely restored and refinished by our professional refurbishing team in Czechia according to the original manufacturing process.
Sold individually, although a set might be possible to arrange.
Please get in touch with us for any questions you may have about this item's condition, authenticity, or any question in general. We're happy to help.
More about the designer:
Volak was the director and chief engineer of Dřevopodnik in Holešov. He launched a new furniture technology called "wood laminate", which represented the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic in the production of seating furniture at many exhibitions abroad and at embassies.
More about the manufacturer:
Drevopodnik Holesov was a Czech brand established in 1958. Furniture from Holešov was often used in public buildings and facilities such as hotels, embassies, theaters and even the former Federal Assembly. To this day, the brand's works continue to be highly influential among furniture enthusiasts, especially for their laminated wood workmanship.
More about Mid-century Modern:
Elements of Mid-century Modern (MCM) interior design include clean lines, muted tones, a combination of natural and manmade materials, graphic shapes and vibrant colors. Perfect for livelier, more colourful spaces. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
