Based on a conversation with someone more expert in textiles than I am, I acquired this information:

"This pair of panels appear to have been wrought in the middle of the last century, perhaps as late as the 1970s. These are by an accomplished embroiderer should sell well in an interior decorator's sale, where they will garner the most interest."

Note: I chose not to remove the paper backing. More might be learned about these depending on what is behind the paper.

19.5" W x 16.5" H x 1.5" D (each)
Weight: 10 lbs 6 oz total

Condition:

Very good vintage condition with the embroidery exquisitely done with a lot of detail and charm. The frames are in good working condition, but there is a small knick in the front of one of the frames and some wear on the paint (see photo). The wires are secure but the paper backing has some rips. The glass has minor scuffs and scratches. Normal wear for age and use. Please see all photos. less
