This very rare set of ten Chinese export Rose Medallion bread or small dessert plates were hand painted in the … Read more This very rare set of ten Chinese export Rose Medallion bread or small dessert plates were hand painted in the first half of the 19th century with overglaze enamels of pink, green, blue, yellow, gold, rust ad black over a white background. It is unusual to have a set of ten in perfect condition but what makes them even rarer is that they are scalloped. Featuring four cartouches each alternating between scenes of figures and flowers and birds, with fanciful borders throughout. In the center medallion there is a little bird, some blue, some orange, framed with four butterflies. Very colorful and detailed. See less
