Coming with a lovely hand … more A wonderful Majolica planter by the famous company of Wilhelm Schiller & Son circa 1890. Coming with a lovely hand painted floral and leaf design, it has been made in the shape of a cornucopia on a pedestal base decorated on both sides with a green man face. The unusual shape is very typical for pieces out of the renown majolica manufactory of W. Schiller & Son. The fantastic coloration in dark blue and warm earth tones mixed with glossy finish alongside the small detailed worked applications makes this jardiniere a super decorative majolica piece! It is marked with the well known "WS&S" and the model reference number 1867.

Wilhelm Schiller began production of porcelain and earthenware in Bodenbach, Bohemia in 1829, operating under the name of Schiller and Gerbing. In 1885, the firm was dissolved and renamed Wilhelm Schiller and Son and remained in operation until the onset of World War I. The firm of Wilhelm Schiller and Son is clearly the most prolific of the Bohemian manufacturers of majolica. less
