Found in the ruins of Ayutthaya by famed ichthyologist Dr. Hugh McCormick Smith in the 1920s. The ancient capital of Siam, it was destroyed in 1767 by the Burmese, never to be rebuilt. Today it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ayutthaya Historical Park. Dr. Smith was the King's fisheries advisor, so it is unsurprising that he found it and brought it home. Accompanied by Dr. Smith's note.
