Modeline was a lamp and lighted furniture manufacturer in Los Angeles, CA founded by Bernard Roberts on March 21st of 1946 which existed until December of 1981. In this period, they designed and created a variety of floor and table lamps. While they are perhaps best known for their modern sculpted korina lamps, their designs ranged from colonial revival to space age.
Modeline employed a number of designers including principal designer Arthur Jacobs, design director John Keal, lead designer Jack Haywood, as well as designers Martin Aakervik, John Caldwell, Bill Dorff, Charles Gibilterra, Ben Gurule, and others.

David Fields purchased Modeline Lamp from its founder, Bernie Roberts, in 1977. They had an excellent run with multiple new designs, including "California Cactus: by Charles Gibilterra. The old line was discontinued and the new designs were sold to most of the major retailers, ranging from Bloomingdales to Levitz. Unfortunately, they were over leveraged when the financial crisis of 1980 struck, which hit manufacturers of household interiors goods particularly hard, and closed Modeline's doors in 1981. less
