This mahogany writing box hails from England most probably in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. The only provenance is word of mouth from a former owner.
The box is brass clad in the Campaign style with a brass plate in the center.
Inside is an embossed leather surface and a fold down writing surface with pen tray and secret compartments.
The stand appears to have been added later and is a slightly different mahogany.
Unfortunately, the hinges are broken, so the top just lifts off now. The piece is best suited as a side table or living room accessory. The skeleton key is missing so it doesn’t lock anymore. This writing desk has seen some good years and will grace your home for many more.
We have priced this lower than most of the similar pieces due to flaws. Please see all pictures. less
