This Mark Rothko rare vintage 1988 lithograph print large custom framed Abstract Expressionist museum poster " Brown, Blue, brown on Blue " 1953, is a very special and unique piece to add to your collection. Published by The Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles from The Panza Collection, printed by Poster Originals Limited, No. 409 in 1988 in an unnumbered limited edition, copyright 1985, 3rd edition. It features an Abstract Expressionist artwork originally created by Rothko in 1953 titled " Brown, Blue, Brown on Blue ".
Mark Rothko ( 1903 - 1970 ) is an American Modernist painter of Russian Jewish descent. Although Rothko himself refused to adhere to any art movement, he is generally defined as an Abstract Expressionist. His bold use of saturated color fields make the artworks impressively iconic and highly individual. Rothko is considered to be one of the most important and influential American painters of The 20th Century. Artworks by Rothko are included in the collections of many of the worlds most prestigious museums.
The rare out of print large format framed lithograph print museum poster measures 29 3/4" W X 43 1/4" h X 1 1/4" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a classic Modern brushed finish black metal frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent condition. The poster print is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age and light signs of handling, with light surface wear.
