Quarto, full red publisher's pebble grain leather hardcover, five raised bands on spine cover and front board stamped/embossed with title/device, boards framed with a triple blind stamped border and circular devices at corners, full gilt leaf edges, tissue guarded frontispiece, 55 full-page black/white photogravure plates illustrated by Walker, Cockerell, Houghton and Alinari.

Measures: 12 H x 10 D x 1.5 W inches.

Condition notes: Very good; loss of color at rubbed extremities, board corners effected by some fine leather tears and a couple with exposed inner boards at tips, tight binding, strong square spine, hinges intact and appear strong, boards effected by some sporadic light damp stains and small indents/scratches, light age-toned end papers, interior text and illustration pages are remarkably bright crisp and clean.
