This tall vase features a globular belly surmounted by a cylindrical neck. The porcelain background is covered with a red glaze contrasting with the pastel motifs. The vase showcases a detailed flower and bird composition which was hand painted in a lively way. This circa 1950 vessel was made in China following the Japanese Kendi style. It is a great example of the trade competition for porcelain between these countries during the 20th century. This Chinese mid-20th century Kendi style porcelain vase with hand painted birds would be a colorful decorative item in most homes, perhaps in a living room where it would add an enjoyable exotic touch.
