This Chinese kitchen cupboard with elmwood fretwork and metal hardware was made during the 19th century and features a dark stained patina. The top section showcases two finely carved, four petal fretwork doors, that open thanks to brass locks and pulls set on brass plates, and in doing so reveal two shelves. The bottom section, which contains one shelf, features two solid doors that open via similar brass hardware. Four carved bracket feet support this substantial cupboard which was likely originally used to store herbs and condiments. This refined Chinese 19th century elmwood fretwork cupboard with hardware details would be an exotic and uncommon item in most rooms, perhaps as a bookcase in a living room or a china cabinet in a dining room.
