This excavated ceremonial vessel is an uncommon record of the culture during the Chinese Antiquity. Regarded as the Golden age of China, the Han dynasty distinguished itself thanks to its remarkable bronze work. This splendid Hu vase is a great example of this work thanks to its stunning technique, probably the lost-wax casting technique. This vessel displays a great attention to detail, with bronze rings as handles, held by stylized motifs, possibly taoties, which were a common motif on bronze vessels during the Shang and Zhou dynasties, which came 1300 years before the Han. Its great patina and wonderful history would make this stunning Han dynasty vessel circa 200 BC. an unusual decorative item, and would no doubt be a tremendous conversation starter. See less
